MARTIN, Tenn. — WKU Soccer unofficially started the 2021 fall season on Saturday with a road exhibition at UT Martin where the Lady Toppers recorded a 1-0 win.
Sophomore Lily Rummo struck in the 12th minute of the game to score the only goal of the match. Fellow sophomore Brina Micheels assisted on the goal. Micheels was tied as the leading assist earner on the WKU team in the spring.
Overall, WKU outshot UT Martin 15-5 in the game, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Freshmen Kayla Meyer got off three shots and Rummo, Mackenzie Crittenberger and Sophia Fronden all put on two shots.
Twenty-two total Lady Toppers saw action in the match, including goalkeepers Alexis Bach, Ashley Kobylinski and Maddie Davis.
WKU will be back in action on Sunday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. against Bellarmine at the WKU Soccer Complex for the final exhibition match of the preseason. The first official match will be on Thursday, Aug. 19 against Austin Peay in Bowling Green.
