BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Hilltopper Golf completed the first and second rounds of the Mountaineer Invitational on Monday. WKU is currently 12th at the West Virginia-hosted event.
Senior Caleb O'Toole led the Tops in scoring after shooting a pair of 6-over 78's on the day. He is tied for 41st at the par-72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club.
Behind O'Toole by a single stroke is sophomore Luke Fuller. Both of his scores counted for WKU as well as he shot the team's best round at 5-over 77 in the first 18 followed by an 8-over 80 in the second. He is tied for 44th.
Graduate senior Christian Tooley is t-54th after the first day of action as he shot 7-over 79 and 9-over 81 on Monday. Freshman Connery Meyer carded an 8-over 80 and 9-over 81 for the two rounds and is tied for 64th.
Redshirt senior Tom Bevington shot the reverse of Meyer, turning in a 9-over 81 in the morning round and an 8-over 80 in the afternoon. Senior Jack Poole shot 7-over 79 for the first 18 holes and followed it up with a 13-over 85.
The team shot 31-over 319 in the second round after an opening 25-over 313.
WKU will finish the Mountaineer Invitational on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the event can be found here.
