BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Tennis will play back-to-back matches in the Yellowhammer State, as the Lady Toppers face off against Alabama A&M on Sunday, April 11 and North Alabama on Monday, April 12.
So far this year, the Bulldogs have a 4-5 record, while the Lions are 6-11 thus far. The matchups against 4-12 WKU will be the final match of the regular season for both opponents.
The Lady Toppers' most recent competition was at Middle Tennessee on Saturday, April 3, which was a loss to the Blue Raiders by a score of 7-0. The No. 1 WKU doubles pair of Lisa Friess and Cora-Lynn von Dungern notched a 7-5 victory, but the team lost the doubles point, then fell in all six singles matches that followed.
"Give MTSU credit, it was senior day and they played well," head coach Greg Davis said at the time. "Unfortunately we couldn't match their intensity level."
WKU is 7-1 all-time against Alabama A&M, but the two have not faced off since 2014. Meanwhile, the Lady Toppers are 6-8 all-time against North Alabama, including a 4-3 loss in the team's final match of 2020 on March 9 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
