BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball will play its final of two preseason exhibitions against the University of the Cumberlands at 7 p.m. CT Friday at E.A. Diddle Arena. The Hilltoppers opened exhibition play Monday with an 82-61 win over Campbellsville.
Cumberlands has started the season 4-0, most recently beating Indiana Southeast 75-68 on Wednesday.

Although Friday's game won't count, WKU is 5-1 all-time against Cumberlands in regular-season games. Rick Stansbury has never faced the Patriots, but he was a graduate assistant with the program from 1983-84.
TOP STORYLINES
• WKU is 63-4 all-time in preseason exhibition games, and the Hilltoppers have won 31 straight preseason tune-ups dating back to a 2002-03 loss to the Harlem Globetrotters.
• WKU's two exhibition opponents, Campbellsville and Cumberlands, represent the start of Stansbury's coaching career. He was a student assistant at Campbellsville and a graduate assistant at Cumberlands.
• WKU returns just 30% of its scoring, 26% of rebounding, 44% of assists and 19% of blocks from 2020-21.
• Josh Anderson was named a C-USA Preseason All-Conference honoree for the first time in his career. Anderson could become the first player in Hilltopper history to earn five letters with the program.
• WKU junior center Jamarion Sharp is the tallest player in college basketball at 7 feet, 5 inches. Sharp had 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in his Hilltopper debut vs. Campbellsville.Â
• The HIlltoppers were picked third in the preseason Conference USA poll, behind West Division foes UAB and Louisiana Tech. This is the first time since 2017-18 that WKU hasn't been picked to win the league.

• WKU's 88 wins over the last four years are the most in Conference USA. The Hilltoppers are one of 14 programs in the nation to have won at least 20 games in each of the last four seasons, and one of 18 schools in the nation to appear in their league's last three championship games.

LAST REGULAR-SEASON GAME AGAINST CUMBERLANDS: JANUARY 11, 1941

WKU's last regular season game against the University of the Cumberlands was a 27-point win in the 1940-41 season, part of a nine-game winning streak to start the season for the Hilltoppers.

WKU went 22-4 that season, including 13-1 at home, on its way to a SIAA Champoinship. Alec Downing was the team's captain, while Carlisle Towery – the first 1,000-point career scorer in program history – was the leading scorer at 17 points per game.
