BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Brent Chumbley announced the team's indoor track & field schedule on Monday.
The Hilltoppers will open their season just down I-65 in Nashville at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt on Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15. WKU will also make a return trip for the Vanderbilt Invitational the following weekend on January 21-22.
WKU will then take a one-day trip to Derby City for the Louisville Invitational on Saturday, January 29 and another on Friday, February 4 to the Bellarmine event.
The squad will head to the Birmingham Crossplex for a conference championship tune-up on February 11-12 at the Samford Bulldog Invite.
In the 2021 indoor regular season, the Hilltoppers logged five individual wins over four meets. Returning winners include Brett Brannon, who placed first in the weight throw at the Samford Invitational, and Grace Turner, who placed first in pole vault at the same meet.
WKU will finish off its indoor season at the Crossplex for the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day meet will happen in Birmingham on Saturday, February 19 and Sunday, February 20.
At the 2021 Championships, WKU walked away with multiple podium finishes including a men's Distance Medley Relay third-place finish and a t-3rd finish from Turner in the women's high jump. The DMR team also logged the fourth-best time in the event in program history.
