KENNESAW, Ga. – Two Hilltopper Golf freshmen lie inside the top 10 on the individual leaderboard through the first day of the Pinetree Intercollegiate hosted by Kennesaw State. Both Stephen Warren and Riley Grindstaff are tied for ninth after 36 holes on Monday.
In addition to the freshmen performances, junior Luke Fuller knocked in another ace, his second in competition in the last eight days. The pair of aces were only 70 competitive holes of golf apart from one another.
As a squad, WKU shot a pair of 2-over 297's for each round of the day. The Hilltoppers are currently tied for seventh on the team leaderboard.
The duo of Warren and Grindstaff are tied at even-par 144 through 36 holes. Warren shot a pair of 72's at the 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club while Grindstaff carded a 2-under 70 and 2-over 74. The freshmen are just three shots back from the top five golfers in the field.
Fuller holed out on the 12th hole of his second round on the 219-yard, par-3. He shot even-par 72 in that round after a 5-over 77 in the morning. He is currently tied for 30th on the leaderboard.
Sophomore Connery Meyer added a 6-over 78 and 7-over 79 to count for WKU's final scores in both rounds. He is tied for 53rd alongside freshman Elliott Pope who is competing as an individual.
Redshirt junior Thomas Hogan is tied for 58th after the 36-hole day. He posted an 8-over 80 and 7-over 79.
WKU is scheduled to tee off for its final round on Tuesday morning.
