BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — WKU Tennis wrapped up its fall season this weekend at the Samford Round Robin. The Lady Toppers faced off against the host Bulldogs, Memphis, Troy and UAB. Each of the past three days, the team competed in one doubles matchup and one singles matchup.
Overall, the doubles duo of Paola Cortez and Cora-Lynn von Dungern led the way with an undefeated 3-0 record. In addition, the pair of Sofia Blanco and Rachel Hermanova claimed a doubles victory over Troy on Saturday.
"I thought we finished the fall on a positive note today," head coach Greg Davis said. "We had some very good singles wins and another great doubles performance out of Cora and Paola who were undefeated this weekend as a team."
Meanwhile in singles, von Dungern and Taylor Shaw went 2-1 over the course of the weekend, while Blanco, Cortez and Alexis Cramer each picked up a win.
"I think our depth is a strong point of this team," Davis said, as all seven players who traveled to Birmingham picked up at least one win in singles or doubles.
In three fall events – the Samford Round Robin, Butler Invitational and UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational – WKU went 26-22 overall in singles play and posted a 10-12 record in doubles. The Lady Toppers will announce their Spring 2022 dual mach schedule in the coming weeks.
