- The Lady Toppers are looking to get back in the winning column after dropping the first game of the series against the Thundering Herd on Thursday.
- Through nine games, Fatou Pouye is WKU's leading scorer, averaging 13.1 points per game. Ally Collett is putting up 10.3 points a game and Hope Sivori is scoring 8.6 points per game.
- Meral Abdelgawad leads WKU on the boards, averaging 8.6 rebounds per game. Sivori leads the team in assists, averaging 3.9 helpers per game.
- Raneem Elgedawy returned to the Lady Topper lineup on Thursday at Marshall. She missed the first eight games of the season. Elgedawy picked up where she left off, earning a double-double in the game. It was her 29th career double-double, the seventh most in WKU history. She enters Sunday's game with a six-game streak with a double-double and 16 straight games scoring in double figures.
- WKU has struggled offensively this season, but is one of the best defensive teams in the conference. The Lady Toppers are holding opponents to 66.1 points per game, the fourth lowest mark in the league. WKU's defensive 3-point field goal percentage sits at 28.1 which is the sixth best in the conference and 83rd in the country.
Game One
- The two teams squared off in Huntington on Thursday. The Thundering Herd came up with an 81-54 win.
- Raneem Elgedawy led the Lady Toppers with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Fatou Pouye also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Hope Sivori was the third Lady Topper that scored in double figures with 10 points.
- Kentucky native Savannah Wheeler led all scorers with 20 points for Marshall. Kristen Mayo added 18 points and Taylor Pearson had 10.
Series Notes
- WKU and Marshall have met 16 times in series history. The series dates back to 1976 but did not become regular until WKU joined Conference USA in 2014-15.
- The Lady Toppers are 14-2 against the Thundering Herd all-time and had won eight straight games in the series before Thursday's loss.
- WKU is 7-0 against Marshall in Bowling Green all-time.
- Last season the Lady Toppers defeated Marshall twice (1/25/20 – 74-65 in Huntington and 2/20/20 – 79-65 in Bowling Green). In the second game, the Lady Toppers had four score in double figures including a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double from Raneem Elgedawy and 11 points from Meral Abdelgawad.

- Johnson leads Marshall on the boards, pulling down 8.1 rebounds per game. Mahogany Matthews is averaging 3.3 blocks per game, which leads C-USA.
- The Thundering Herd is averaging 59.6 points per game but is holding teams to 64.1 points which is the third lowest in the league.
