It feels great to be working out with all my teammates again even if we're in small groups. At first, it was a bit weird working out with only about 10 people but eventually we got accustomed to it and it's starting to feel somewhat normal. The Football staff has done a good job of putting a plan in place with many safety precautions so that we can improve on our craft all while staying healthy and safe.
While finishing up the Spring semester online from home in Georgia, I was able to complete my undergraduate degree from WKU. Earning a college degree is something that everyone does not have the opportunity or ability to do, and being able to do that in three years instead of the typical four is something I'm proud of.
Going for my Master's over the next two years is also exciting. If I can get two degrees while being on scholarship at WKU, it would be a huge accomplishment in my life and will help me be set for life after football.
Obviously, one thing that affects all of us off the field right now is the Black Lives Matter movement. I believe Black Lives Matter is a topic that everyone should be discussing in some way. People have to realize that, as crazy as it seems, there are people out there who judge people by the color of their skin and not by their character. Right now, everyone is not treated the same as everyone else, and the more people begin to realize that, the higher chance that people are going to be able to change things.
We've had talks with our coaches and teammates about this topic. One main thing that came out of the talks is that we're all here for each other. We treat each other with the utmost respect and don't care about what someone looks like or where they grew up. If more people lived their lives like it was this football locker room, there would be no problems in the world. We all need to strive to make the world a better place, one day at a time.
