BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU women's basketball team will hit the road once again to take on Old Dominion on Thursday. Tipoff between the Lady Toppers and the Monarchs will be at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
WKU is 10-5 on the season and 2-2 in Conference USA. Old Dominion is 12-3 and 2-1 in conference play.
The Lady Toppers are coming off of back-to-back wins last week against UAB and Middle Tennessee. Despite a poor shooting performance from outside against Middle Tennessee, WKU was able to get it done with its inside game. The Lady Toppers outscored the Lady Raiders 44-28 in the paint and connected on 19 free throws.
Raneem Elgedawy led the way for WKU with 21 points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. It was her seventh double-double of the season which leads C-USA. Dee Givens finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals in the contest.
WKU has three players averaging double digit points this season. Elgedawy is putting up 16.9 points per game. Givens is averaging 15.7 and Whitney Creech is scoring 15.4 per game. Elgedawy also leads on the boards, pulling down an average of 9.9 rebounds per game. Creech is the team's leading assist earner, dishing out 4.5 dimes per game.
Thursday will be the 16th all-time meeting between WKU and Old Dominion. The Lady Toppers own a 17-8 lead in the series and have won 11-straight contests against the Monarchs.
It will be a battle of a high-scoring offense versus a stout defense. WKU has the second highest offensive output in C-USA, averaging 72.6 points per game. On the other side, Old Dominion is allowing only 53.1 points per game this season, the lowest average in the league.
The Monarchs are led by Victoria Morris who is scoring 11.4 points per game. Amari Young is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 7.4 boards per game.
The Lady Toppers will stay on the road to take on Charlotte on Saturday.
