BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Golf heads to a familiar tournament this weekend as the Lady Toppers play at the 30th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

"Obviously, we've played a lot of golf at the University Club, even from junior golf," said head coach Adam Gary of the course. "All the girls on the team from the state of Kentucky have played this multiple times, so we're going to familiar places this week."

Play will begin Friday and run through Sunday at the University Club of Kentucky's par-72, 6,114-yard Big Blue Course. The Lady Toppers are slated to play 18 holes each day. Friday and Saturday are scheduled for tee time starts while Sunday will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT.

The field has 13 teams including four teams that finished in the top 65 of GolfStat's team rankings last year: No. 57 Penn State, No. 61 Kentucky, No. 64 Memphis and No. 65 Middle Tennessee State. Playing for the Red and White will be Joiner, Sarah Arnold, Megan Clarke, Olivia Reed and Lizzie Loy. Senior Abigail Smee will be playing as an individual.

In the Lady Toppers' last time out, senior Mary Joiner tied for second individually while the team placed solo second at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational. After getting a top-five finish, Joiner hopes to keep the momentum going headed into familiar territory in Lexington.

"It just makes me more comfortable and more confident going forward," said the senior. "Playing at UK, we've played there before, we've got some experience there, so that should be good for this week."

At the 2018 Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, WKU tied for eighth as a team with a score of 884. Mary Joiner notched the highest finish for the team at T11 with a score of 1-over-par 217.

"If you do the little things, those big things kind of take care of themselves," said Gary of the team's expectations for this weekend. "We're just going to go take care of one shot at a time, the cliché things really, but those really add up to be very important things. If we can keep to our game plan then I think the results will take care of themselves."
