BOSTON – In what could have been WKU Track and Field's last event of the season, the squad's 4x400 relay unit notched a facility, school and Conference USA record time of 3:04.24 to earn a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Individually, Martin Owusu-Antwi added a school record of his own, clocking a blazing 20.81 mark in the 200-meter dash for third place honors.
WKU's Boston University-hosted Last Chance Qualifier relay mark ranks as the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA this season. Lincoln Warren, Oliver Alexandre, Kymari Gates and Martin Owusu-Antwi were the Hilltoppers to deliver the record and the first-place finish.
Owusu-Antwi's showing ranks just outside of the required top-16 to earn a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships, coming in at 21st in the country.
"We had a good meet," head coach Erik Jenkins shared. "Anytime you can improve this late in the season shows positive growth. We look forward to representing WKU in the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks."
The NCAA Championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, a facility the Hilltoppers are already familiar with after running the indoor Conference USA Championships there this season. The two-day event will take place across Friday and Saturday, March 8-9.
