FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — After earning WKU Lady Topper Golf's No. 1 spot in qualifying, Megan Clarke continued that momentum by leading her squad Monday through the first two rounds of Jacksonville's Amelia Island Collegiate.
The sophomore Clarke is tied for 11th individually with a 148 (73-75) total. She's just five strokes behind the individual leader, Georgia State's Harmanprit Kaur.
Clarke opened the day with a 1-over 73 that included four birdies. This is her first event since the last tournament of the fall at the Little Rock Golf Classic, where she earned her first career individual victory.
As a team, the Lady Toppers are in eighth place with a 615 (308-307) tally. North Florida leads the field at 588.
Junior Mary Joiner is tied for 25th for WKU at 152 (73-79). Freshman Lizzie Loy fired a 157 (81-76) total, while junior Bailey Tyree carded a 158 (81-77) – as did junior Abigail Smee (77-81) competing as an individual.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday with a shotgun start.
