MOBILE, Ala. — Tuesday's final round of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate was canceled because of inclement weather and poor playing conditions, leaving WKU Hilltopper Golf with a third-place team finish after two rounds.
The Hilltoppers placed third behind No. 27 Louisville and No. 39 Florida State with a two-round tally of 563 (282-281), the program's best 36-hole score since spring 2005. It was also the fifth-best 36-hole score for WKU since 1980.
Individually, senior Stuart Easton led the Hilltoppers in a tie for fourth after carding a 6-under 138 (70-68) at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
Easton has finished in the top five in back-to-back tournaments going back to the Pinetree Intercollegiate in the fall. He finished ahead of two top-100 golfers in the individual standings this week.
Redshirt junior Linus Lo and junior Tom Bevington also picked up top-10 finishes in the shortened event after tying their career lows for 36 holes with a pair of 140s.
This is the fourth time in five events that WKU has finished under par as a team under first-year coach Chan Metts. The Hilltoppers finished under par in just two events in 2017-18.
