Continuing to add to the best start in program history, the Lady Toppers are off to a 24-1 start on the 2019 campaign including a perfect 10-0 reading in C-USA matches. WKU leads the nation in numerous categories including wins (24), win percentage (.960) and sweeps (18). The Lady Toppers are one of five programs with an active streak of such, joined by Nebraska (44), Penn State (42), Florida (28) and Colorado State (25).
Â
Earlier this season, WKU visited Florida and ended a pair of the nation's longest home winning streaks at Florida Atlantic and FIU. This weekend, the team will have the chance to end Rice's 20-match streak, which currently ranks as the third longest mark in the country.
Â
WKU's first stop of the road swing will be in Denton, Texas, to take on the current third-place standing Mean Green. North Texas owns a 15-8 overall record on the season and has recorded a 9-2 mark in league play with losses to Rice and Middle Tennessee. The Red and White own a 20-3 all-time record against the Mean Green. North Texas downed the Lady Toppers in the most recent contest, a 3-0 sweep from Bowling Green last season.
Â
On Sunday, WKU will turn its focus to No. 17 Rice. The Owls are off to a 21-1 start and are the other unbeaten team remaining in Conference USA with a 10-0 mark as well. Rice will face off against Florida Atlantic before the Tops visit on Sunday. The Lady Toppers own a 5-3 all-time record against the Owls but Rice claimed a four-set decision last season in Bowling Green. Sunday's match will mark the first time WKU has been ranked in the top-25 and faced a conference foe that has also been ranked.
Â
Both matches will be the Senior Night for WKU's weekend opponents.
Â
Also at stake this weekend for the Lady Toppers is the squad's 20-match win streak and 21-straight sets won stretch.
Â
WKU will return to Diddle Arena next Thursday and Saturday to close out the regular season with visits from Louisiana Tech and UAB.
