Â
Florida Atlantic sits at 8-6 on the season, taking on some formidable opponents, including a five-set win over TCU. The Owls are 2-1 in C-USA and look to build upon their home win streak of 21, the second-longest in the NCAA. The Tops lead 23-0 when going head-to-head with FAU in the all-time series. Last season, the Lady Toppers claimed a 3-1 decision over the Owls in Bowling Green. First serve on Friday goes up at 6 p.m. CT from Boca Raton.
Â
FIU enters the weekend at 8-6 overall as well, while owning a 1-2 record in C-USA play. The Panthers' two losses in league play came to Florida Atlantic and Marshall, each in four sets. FIU also owns a notable streak, sitting at 10th in the NCAA with 13-consecutive wins on its home floor. The Lady Tops lead the all-time series 35-8 and claimed a thrilling five-set victory over the Panthers in Diddle Arena during the 2018 season. Sunday's first serve is slated for noon CT in Miami.
Â
For four-straight weeks, WKU has received votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The squad now sits at No. 26, only one spot away from breaking into the top 25 for the first time since the 2017 campaign.
Â
The Tops have collected a total of nine C-USA Player of the Week awards, standing as the sole team to win an award every week, as well as the only team to win at least one of each award. Four different student-athletes have accounted for the nine accolades while Lauren Matthews earning recognition as Offensive Player of the Week most recently.
Â
In the first RPI of the 2019 campaign, WKU came in at No. 30 and already owns nine wins over teams in the top 100. Florida Atlantic posted an initial RPI of 80 while FIU came in at No. 179.
Â
Looking ahead, WKU will play its third-straight match on the road Friday, Oct. 18 as the squad heads south to Middle Tennessee for the sides' second meeting of the season. The Lady Toppers will return to The Hill on Sunday to host UTSA, another top-100 RPI team.
