TORONTO, Canada – Three former WKU Track and Field Hilltoppers competed at the North America Central America Caribbean Championships this past weekend. Each of the former student-athletes graduated from WKU within the past decade.
Jessica Ramsey, a 2014 WKU graduate, competed in the women's shot put at the NACAC Championships. Ramsey threw 17.80 meters which was good for third in the event.
The eldest of the three Hilltoppers, Gavin Smellie competed in the men's 100-meter at the Championships. In the semifinals, Smellie finished with a time of 10.15, qualifying him for the event finals. The Canadian ran a 10.21 in the finals and finished fifth overall.
The most recent graduate, Julius Morris, competed in both the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes. In the 100-meter dash, Morris clocked a time of 10.50 to place 13th in the semifinal. The Monteserrat-native finished 10th in the semifinal of the 200-meter with a time of 21.11.
