BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lady Topper Tennis is set for a two-state road trip this weekend, traveling to Lipscomb in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday followed by Ball State in Muncie, Ind., on Sunday.
Leading the all-time series 12-10, Lady Topper Tennis is looking to earn one more win against Lipscomb after sweeping the Bisons 4-0 last year on their home court. The history between the teams dates back to 2001 and WKU has won the last three.
Lipscomb has claimed victories its last two times out and sits at 3-5 on the year. The Bisons are undefeated this season at home in the Whitworth Indoor Center. The squad also returned junior Viktoriya Dzyuba, the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Year for 2016-17.
WKU (1-2; 1-0 C-USA) plays Ball State looking for its first ever win against the Cardinals as Ball State leads the all-time series between the pair 4-0. The Lady Toppers were most recently defeated by the Cardinals in a tough 4-3 loss in Murfreesboro last season. Ball State is 4-2 this season including an undefeated 3-0 on their home court. The Cardinals 2016-17 season finished with a loss to Miami in the semifinals of the MAC Championship.
"We are facing two great tennis programs and neither have lost at home this season," says Director of Tennis Transportation Jim Clark. "Our team has been making improvements throughout the season and we are ready for the challenge this weekend brings."
