BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball head coach Rick Stansbury announced Sunday the addition of Nick Ongenda (6-10, Center) in the 2019 class.
Â
Ongenda, who plays for Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock, Ark., was originally a member of the 2020 class but will reclassify into 2019.
Â
"Nick brings great potential with his ability to run and block shots," Stansbury said. "His defense is ahead of his offense, but no question he has a tremendous upside as he continues to get stronger. He's one of those players that it's not what he is now, but what he can become that excites you. We're happy to have him as part of our program."
Â
The South Africa native Ongenda is averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game this season for Southwest Christian Academy.
Â
The center with a 7-foot-4 wingspan was ranked a four-star prospect, the No. 106 overall player in the 2020 class and the 14th-best center by 247Sports.
Â
ESPN ranked him as a four-star recruit and No. 59 overall for the 2020 class.
Â
Ongenda had a breakout summer this year on the Nike EYBL circuit competing for the Woodz Elite AAU program which won the Peach Jam 16U title.
