IRVING, Texas — After winning her first career tournament, WKU Lady Topper Golf's Megan Clarke was named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
The sophomore Clarke took medalist honors Tuesday at the Little Rock Golf Classic with a career-low, 4-under 212 (72-67-73) total.
This is her first career C-USA weekly honor and WKU's third of the fall. Junior Mary Joiner won back-to-back Golfer of the Week awards to open the season.
Clarke came into Tuesday's final round one shot back of the lead but took control with a 1-over 73. She led the tournament field in total birdies (12) and par-5 scoring (7 under).
The Heckmondwike, England, native's second-round 67 tied for the second-lowest round in program history, and she set new career lows for 18, 36 and 54 holes. Her previous best finish was a tie for 11th at the 2018 Conference USA Championship.
Clarke's efforts helped WKU finish fourth as a team in the tournament despite Joiner being forced to withdraw due to illness.
The Lady Toppers return to the course in the spring at Jacksonville's Amelia Island Collegiate on Feb. 18-19 in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
