BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Opening weekend of cross country season is nearly here as WKU Cross Country is headed back to the Golden Eagle Invitational in Cookeville, Tenn., to kick things off. Both the Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers will be in action this weekend at the Tennessee Tech-hosted event.
Competition from the Ironwood Golf Course will open Saturday morning with the men's 6k race at 9 a.m. CT followed by the women's 5k at 9:45 a.m. CT.
Teams joining the Red and White at the outing include Auburn, Mississippi State, Southern Illinois and the host Golden Eagles of Tennessee State.
Results will be compiled in both the team standings and dual-meet format following the races and will be available on WKUSports.com.
WKU's women's roster features three returners from last season's squad to go along with four newcomers. On the men's side, the Hilltoppers have seven student-athletes returning from last year and three new freshmen.
