ACADEMIC TEAMS | INDIVIDUALS
NEW ORLEANS – Following another solid showing at Conference USA Championships during the 2016-17 season, the WKU women's track and field squad was honored by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic team. This marks the fourth time in the past five seasons that the Lady Topper unit has earned the recognition and fifth honor overall.
The Lady Toppers exceeded the minimum 3.00 cumulative team GPA requirement with a collective classroom effort of 3.42. In total, 360 teams were honored, including 142 men's teams and 218 women's teams.
Individually, WKU saw student-athlete Morgan McIntyre honored as well. In order to be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have either finished in the NCAA top-96 of their event during the indoor season or advanced to NCAA East Prelims during the outdoor season.
McIntyre swept the Conference USA Indoor and Outdoor pole vault titles during the 2016-17 to earn a pair of First-Team All-Conference accolades from the league. McIntyre owned the 16th-best pole vault mark in the East Region entering the NCAA Preliminaries.
In total, 752 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their efforts in the classroom and competing across NCAA Division I.
