IRVING, Texas — WKU women's golf senior Ellinor Haag has been named one of 14 recipients of the C-USA Spring Spirit of Service Award, as announced by the Conference USA office on Wednesday.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The award is presented three times throughout the season, with Wednesday's honorees representing spring sports: baseball, golf, women's rowing, softball, tennis and outdoor track and field.
An All-C-USA honoree in consecutive seasons, Haag led the Lady Toppers to a fourth-place team finish at the 2016 C-USA Women's Golf Championship, their best result in a conference tournament since 1997. Haag placed ninth individually and earned All-C-USA first-team honors.
The Sigtuna, Sweden, native became WKU's top conference championship individual finisher since Crystal Anglea in 2000 after tallying a 7-over 223 (81-70-72) to finish ninth. She finished the season with a 75.0 stroke average and brought home nine top-20 finishes in 11 opportunities.
Haag also excelled in the classroom with a 3.97 GPA as an international business major. She was a two-time member of the C-USA All-Academic Team and a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
Haag volunteered her time at the Bowling Green Humane Society, National Girls and Women in Sports Day and was involved in the One Shirt, One Body campaign.
