IRVING, Texas - Redshirt junior Kendall Noble has been named the C-USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning. The honor is Noble's third of the season and fourth of her career since joining C-USA.
Noble, a top candidate for C-USA Player of the Year, previously captured Player of the Week honors on Nov. 23 and Jan. 25 earlier this season. Coupled with Ivy Brown's accolades on Dec. 28, WKU is one of only two schools in the conference, alongside Louisiana Tech, to boast a Player of the Week winner in each of the first four months of the season. The Lady Toppers have also had four Player of the Week honorees in each of the last four seasons dating back to the team's tenure in the Sun Belt.
The Hazard, Ky., native starred for the Lady Toppers in two critical victories this week, picking up wins over archrival Middle Tennessee and UAB to clinch a double bye in the C-USA Tournament that begins next week. Noble either scored or assisted on 74 of WKU's 126 points on the week, an incredible 58.7 percent of the team's total.
Against the Blue Raiders, Noble tallied 23 points, dished out six assists and collected five steals, two of which came in the fourth quarter to stymie Middle Tennessee's comeback attempts. The output was Noble's ninth 20-point game of the season and her most since scoring a career-best 31 against North Texas on Jan. 16.
Noble matched her career-high with 11 assists against the Blazers to go along with 11 points and seven rebounds, once again approaching triple-double territory. The redshirt junior has five or more assists in 10 of her last 11 games and owns the best assist-to-turnover ratio in C-USA this season at 2.2 (145 assists, 66 turnovers).
Noble and the Lady Toppers will close out the regular season with road trips to Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech this week. WKU will square off with the Golden Eagles in Hattiesburg, Miss., at 6:00 p.m. (CT) on Thursday before traveling west to Ruston, La., to meet the Lady Techsters on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. (CT).
