NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The WKU men's and women's indoor track and field teams captured six events this past weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville.
Emmanuel Dasor continued his record setting season as the sophomore recorded first place finishes in both the 200 meter and 400 meter dash. Dasor tied a school record in the 200 meter event with a time of 21.07 seconds. The time also marked a Vanderbilt facility record abd ranks 14th in the NCAA. The Ghana native finished the 400 meter dash in a personal-best time of 47.32 seconds. Additionally his time of 6.68 seconds in the 60 meter dash ranks 15th in the NCAA.
WKU finished 1-2-3 in the 200 meter dash as junior Ventavius Sears finished in second place behind Dasor with a time of 21.26 seconds while sophomore Julius Morris placed third with a time of 21.27 seconds. Morris also had a fourth place finish in the 60 meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.74 seconds.
Three other Hilltoppers took events on the men's side as Vincent Wyatt placed first in the 60 meter hurdles after breaking his own school record with a time of 7.83 seconds. The time ranks 18th in the NCAA. Freshman Keenon Laine moves to second place in the WKU record books with a jump of 2.16 meters in the high jump. This time ranks 15th in the NCAA. Senior Ventavius Sears set a school record in the triple jump with an effort of 16.07 meters. The jump ranks 7th in the NCAA. Sears also tallied a third place finish in the long jump with an effort of 7.65 meters. The jump ranks 16th in the nCAA.
Nick Demaline set a personal record in the shot put with an effort of 18.26 meters. His throw allowed the sophomore a third place finish in the event.
On the women's side, Carroll Hardy had a pair of top two finishes as the junior took the 200 meter dash with a time of 24 seconds and finished in second place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.30 seconds, just five seconds shy of the facility record. Her 60 meter dash time breaks her own school record and is curently 12th best in the NCAA.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Hardy, Jessica Gilibert, Khadijah Valentine and Shantol Hemley finished in third place with a time of 3:46.00.
WKU is set to continue its season this weekend by traveling north to South Bend, Indiana, to take part in the Meyo Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The two-day invite is set to begin on Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
