BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU volleyball recorded a season-high .463 team hitting percentage Friday evening in E.A. Diddle Arena as the Lady Tops extended their current winning streak to eight matches with a straight-set victory over LA Tech (25-15, 25-13, 25-14).
Sophomore Alyssa Cavanaugh led the charge for the Lady Toppers as the outside hitter finished with a match-high 12 kills on .450 hitting. Freshman Rachel Anderson added eight kills off career-high .615 hitting clip while senior Noelle Cavanaugh added seven on .545 hitting for the Lady Tops.
WKU's defense limited LA Tech throughout the match as the Lady Techsters finished with a .102 hitting percentage on the night. Junior Georgia O'Connell led with nine digs while the Lady Tops recorded nine team blocks, including a pair of solo stuffs from senior Haley Bodway.
With the victory, WKU extends its streak to 13 consecutive victories over Conference USA foes. The last conference team to defeat the Lady Tops was UTSA who captured a four-set victory on Oct. 17, 2014. WKU's 14-2 start is the program's best since 2011 when the Lady Toppers ran out to a 21-2 record on their way to a 31-4 season.
WKU (14-2, 2-0 C-USA) returns to action Sunday afternoon as the Lady Toppers will host FIU in E.A. Diddle Arena. First serve is set for noon CT.
