BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The WKU women's soccer team ended preseason exhibition play with a 1-1 draw against NKU on Sunday at the NKU Soccer Stadium after second half goals by both the Lady Toppers and the Norse.
WKU scored first in the 60th minute after Chandler Clark made a cross pass into the box and a NKU defender knocked the ball into her own goal. The Lady Toppers were more aggressive most of the second half getting 12 shots after only having seven shots in the first half. Iris Dunn and Lauren Moats each had several good looks at the goal but weren't able to find the back of the net.
NKU knotted up the game in the 86th minute with a punch in by Sami Rutowski against goalkeeper Alex Hoefler who came in for starter Allison Leone. NKU was held to six shots in the second half after 10 in the first half.
Leone finished the game with four saves including a sky-reaching save where she jumped over the NKU offenders and grabbed the ball out of the air. Hoefler came into the game midway through the second half and had one save and gave up one goal.
