BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - First-year WKU head baseball coach John Pawlowski completed his staff on Monday by naming former WKU catcher Devin Kelly as volunteer assistant coach and alum Gaston Glasscock as Director of Baseball Operations.
Kelly remains in his volunteer assistant role that he held with the Hilltoppers last season and Glasscock, a three-year manager for the program, has been promoted to Director of Baseball Operations by Pawlowski.
"I'm excited to have Devin Kelly and Gaston Glasscock on board with the WKU Baseball family as we begin a new chapter," said Pawlowski. "Devin has built great relationships with our current players and is a talented, up-and-coming coach. Being a former player at WKU, he understands what it means to wear the WKU uniform and be a student-athlete on The Hill."
Kelly, a San Francisco, Calif. native, spent the 2014 season as WKU's undergraduate assistant coach following two seasons as the Hilltoppers' primary catcher in 2012-13. He was named volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2015 season and mentored All-Conference USA Academic Team selection Ryan Messex at catcher. With Kelly's guidance the past two seasons, WKU catchers have thrown out 53 runners trying to steal. In addition to his coaching duties, Kelly has also led WKU's operational, field management and youth camps the past two seasons.
"Gaston is very familiar with the program and has a strong work ethic that will help us continue to move the program forward," said Pawlowski. "Both he and Devin are tremendous workers and our student athletes will benefit from being around them. I'm very fortunate to round out our staff with two blue-collar alumni who already have plenty invested in WKU Baseball."
Glasscock, a Hardinsburg, Ky. native and older brother of former WKU pitcher Tate Glasscock, was a student-manager for the program during the 2013-14 seasons before tackling a more hands-on role with the Hilltoppers in 2015. Glasscock teamed with Kelly in handling WKU's field and clubhouse maintenance, organized youth camps and tournaments, and was also responsible for day-to-day operations last year.
The 2015-16 WKU Baseball staff is now complete with the additions of Kelly and Glasscock, who join Pawlowski, recruiting coordinator Ty Megahee and hitting coach Rob Reinstetle.
