BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU is one more practice away from closing out their fourth week of spring ball, and for head coach Jeff Brohm, it has been four weeks of progress in all phases of the game.
"I thought we had a good week of progress, our guys are getting better," Brohm said on a windy Thursday afternoon inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. "Our defense is making progress. The key is not giving up the big plays. At times, we look really good but we can't give up the big plays. I think that every element from the pass rush to linebacker play to safety play has gotten better."
The Hilltoppers have seen an influx of youth on defense to create depth, particularly in the front seven, where transfer Jontavius Morris has received rave reviews from the coaching stuff, including Brohm.
"I really like (his play)," Brohm noted. "He's been a great addition for us. Not only does he give us beef at 6-foot-2, 315 lbs., he plays hard and with a great motor and energy. He picks up the other guys and has been a great surprise for us. He has exceeded our expectations."
The Tops will close out the week with their second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday at 10 a.m.
