BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The WKU men's and women's track and field teams were impressive in their home meet last weekend and three athletes have received Conference USA recognition for their performances. Sophomore sprinters Emmanuel Dasor and Carrol Hardy were tabbed C-USA Male and Female Track Athletes of the Week while senior Karleigh Parker was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week.
Dasor, a 2014 All-American, picked up a pair of wins in the 200 and 400-meter dashes at the Hilltopper Relays and made his mark on the record book in the process. Dasor's winning 400-meter time of 46.58 seconds ranks fourth in WKU's storied history, first in Conference USA and 27th in the nation this season. He paced the 200-meter field with a 20.85 clocking, which ranks second in the league.
Dasor also ran a leg of the Hilltoppers' victorious 400-meter relay that bested the field of competition with a time of 40.54 seconds. The Male Track Athlete of the Week honor is Dasor's first this outdoor season and second overall during the 2014-15 campaign.
Hardy was stellar in the 100-meter dash for the second-straight week as she won the event with a time of 11.61 seconds. Hardy has clocked in at 11.60 and 11.61 seconds in the 100-meter dash the past two weeks, which represent the two fastest times in C-USA this season. Hardy was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week twice during the indoor season to go along with her first outdoor C-USA honor.
Lady Topper pole vaulter Karleigh Parker set the school pole vault record at 13-feet-7.5 inches (4.15m) in the first field event of the day to get WKU's big day rolling. Parker and teammate Ria Mollers both hit the mark to establish a new school record, which was previously set by Parker in 2014. Parker's record results in her third overall C-USA weekly honor this season and first during the outdoor campaign.
The performances of Dasor, Hardy and Parker gave WKU three of the four weekly honors from Conference USA, making it the only league program to accomplish that feat this season. With the three weekly accolades, WKU has upped its Conference USA Player of the Week total to a league-best 49 across all sports.
