CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The WKU women's tennis team defeated Austin Peay 6-1 in Clarksville, Tenn. on Saturday. The Lady Toppers improve to 2-1 on the season with the win, while Austin Peay dropped to 0-5.
WKU recorded wins at the top five spots in singles and won the doubles point after winning the No. 1 and No. 3. Emilia Granstrom defended the No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ornella Di Salvo. Granstrom is now 2-1 in singles on the season at the top spot.
Andreanna Christopoulou continued her perfect 3-0 record at No. 3 singles with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 win against Vanessa Tavares. Tereza Hejlova and Elpida Malamou also recorded wins and moved to 2-1 on the season. Gabby Crofford won her first match of the year with an 8-3 win over Isabela Jovanovic. Emily Przystawski dropped her singles match against Jovana Karac.
Granstrom and Christopoulou defeated Di Salvo and Hannah Tatlock by a score of 6-1 in No. 1 doubles action. Crofford and Przystawski also won at the No. 3 doubles, beating Karac and Jovanovic 6-4.
The Lady Toppers travel to Murray State on Saturday to take on the Racers in Murray, Ky at the Kenlake State Park. Murray State is 4-2 on the season and 4-0 at home.
