WKU Tennis Tumbles To Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. — The WKU women's tennis team lost at Murray State on Saturday by a score of 5-2. This is only the second loss of the season for the Lady Toppers, bringing their season record to 2-2.

The day started with WKU clinching the doubles point after Emilia Granstrom and Andreanna Christopoulou defeated Eleonore Tchakarova and Verginie Tchakarova, 8-6, and Tereza Hejlova and Elpida Malamou defeated Megan Blue and Alena Vasileva, 8-3. After the doubles matches there would be only one other Lady Topper win. Tereza Hejlova was the lone WKU player with a win in singles. Hejlova topped Megan Blue at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3.

Andreanna Christopoulou suffered her first singles loss of the season against Eleonore Tchakarova at No. 3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Emilia Granstrom played a tough opponent in Andrea Eskauriatza at the No. 1 singles spot but came up just short by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 4-6. Elpida Malamou suffered a similar fate after she defeated Verginie Tchakarova at the No. 4 in the first set. Malamou wasn't able to win the second set and V. Tchakarova came out victorious in the third. Gabby Crofford lost to Alena Vasileva at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2. Emily Przystawski dropped her match to Erin Patton by a score of 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6.

The Lady Toppers are next in action at Eastern Kentucky (2-4) on Friday and then they will travel to Louisville to take on Evansville (2-2) on Saturday.
