Florida Atlantic Head Coach Charlie Partridge
On the performance of the defense against a high powered WKU offense
"They did some good things, Doughty is a great player and he gets the ball out of there quick. I'm glad he's finally out of this conference to be honest with you. It feels like he's been here forever. The defense did some good things. We knew he was going to be tough to get to and all the credit in the world goes to Western Kentucky, they did a nice job today.
On the offensive game plan
"We were aggressive on fourth down, we went for it seven times and got six of them including the fake punt. That was part of the game plan. With one of the most powerful offenses in the country, you have to try and restrict their opportunities and we did. We limited their possessions. At the end of the day they had eight possessions which for them is a few less than normal."
On the team's mentality coming into today's matchup
"We knew how powerful their offense was and last year we were aggressive on fourth downs and we knew we would have to do it again today so that played into going for it so many times and we executed that pretty well. We wished we had punched it in a couple more times when we got down there close."
Florida Atlantic Running Back Trey Rodriguez
On executing the offensive game plan
"The first two quarters we executed really well. In the third quarter we messed up on the first drive back so that kind of slowed down the game for us but I feel like we executed the game ok. There's always things you can work on so that's what we need to do."
On the team's missed opportunities in the red zone
"You can't win a game kicking field goals that is just plain and simple. You have to score touchdowns in order to win."
