Team Records and Series Notes
- Captains for WKU were Nick Holt, Forrest Lamp, Gavin Rocker and Wonderful Terry. ODU won the toss and elected to receive.
- WKU improves to 7-2, while Old Dominion falls to 3-5. The Hilltoppers have won the only two games of the series (2014).
- This was the eighth-straight win for WKU over a C-USA opponent, which is the longest streak since winning nine consecutive against Sun Belt opponents across years of 2011-2012.
- The 5-0 start in conference play is the first for WKU in the FBS era and first since going 7-0 in OVC play in 2000.
- The seven wins through nine game are the most in FBS era and most since the 2004 campaign.

- WKU scored on its opening drive for the first time in a road game this season with Schwettman's field goal.

Player Notes
- Brandon Doughty moved into the Top 50 in FBS history for career yards thrown as his 276 pushed his career total to 11,110.

- Doughty has thrown a touchdown pass in 23 straight games, which ties TCU's Trevone Boykin with longest active streak in FBS.
- In the first half this season, Doughty is now 164-of-233 (70.4) for 2,361 yards, 24 touchdowns and two INTs.
- Kicker Garrett Schwettman registered two field goals in the contest to push his career tally to 50, which moves him into second all-time at WKU.
- Nicholas Norris registered the third 100-yard receiving game of his career and second of the season (vs. Middle Tennessee) as he finished with 117 yards and a touchdown.
- Taywan Taylor, who entered the game as the leading receiver in C-USA, pushed his season total to 957 yards.

- Taylor now has 129 career receptions, moving him into fifth-place in WKU history in the statistic.
- His 60 receptions this season are also good for fifth-most in a single season by any Hilltopper ever.
- Jared Dangerfield had posted his his 17th and 18th receiving touchdowns of his career. For the season, Dangerfield has 54 receptions, which ties Jake Gaebler (2008) for the seventh-most in a single season in WKU history.

- For his career, he is now tied with Taywan Taylor for sixth all-time in program history.
- Anthony Wales ran for 185 yards on 16 carries and added a career-high four rushing touchdowns in the contest. He became the third running back in C-USA to run for four touchdowns in a game this season.
- Nick Holt racked up a career-high three sacks, making him the fourth player in C-USA this season to have three sacks in a game. He entered the contest with 2.5 sacks in his career. He also forced and recovered a fumble on a strip sack.

- The three sacks were the most by a WKU player in a single game since Quanterus Smith had five at FIU in 2012.
