Thursday night's match serves as Senior Night for Lauren Moats, Alanna Clancey and Chandler Clark. The trio has played a major part in the 40-24-12 record the team has put together in their four years as part of the WKU Soccer program.
Moats goes into her final regular season game ranked seventh in career goals, eighth in career points and fifth in game-winning goals in WKU history. The Nixa, Mo. native has put together an illustrious career on the Hill as a leader on and off the field.
Clark has proven to be the vocal leader on the field that every team needs, leading a WKU defense to five shutouts this season. The Edgewood, Ky. native has three career goals and has assisted on a goal three times this season.
Clancey is also a crucial part of the WKU defense that has held opponents scoreless five times this season. The Carmel, Ind. native scored a game-winner against Lipscomb her sophomore season, propelling the Lady Toppers to a 2-1 win.
The matchup gives WKU an opportunity to clinch a spot in the Conference USA tournament. Standings are determined by a point system with a win earning three points and a tie equaling one point. FAU has already grabbed a spot in the tournament.
WKU dropped their only game last weekend to Marshall at home, 2-0. The game remained scoreless for 80 minutes until Marshall found the back of the net off a rebounded shot. Marshall added to their lead just a few minutes later.
FAU picked up two wins last weekend against UAB and on the road at FIU. The Owls exploded for four goals against the Blazers, getting a 4-0 victory. FAU shut out FIU on the road, 2-0 for their ninth shutout of the season and fifth consecutive clean sheet. The Owls have put together a six-game winning streak after dropping their first three matches in conference play.
WKU Redwave will be hosting a tailgating event before the game for students. The first 50 students at the tailgate will receive free nachos. Fans in attendance will also be able to purchase $1 hot dogs at the game.
