BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU women's basketball officially opened its 2015-16 campaign with its first practice on Saturday morning, going through a series of workouts and drills inside the Auxiliary Gym in E.A. Diddle Arena.
The Lady Toppers welcome eight new faces to the roster this season, six of whom are eligible to compete in games immediately. Simone Goods, Taylor Brown, Sidnee Bopp, Dee Givens and Kayla Smith make up the incoming freshman class, while Kayla Styles, Ima Akpan and Jaycee Coe are transfers into the program. Styles and Coe will not compete during the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer regulations.
The public's first look at this season's team, picked third in the Conference USA Preseason Coaches' Poll, will come at next Saturday's Hilltopper Hysteria, set to begin inside E.A. Diddle Arena at 6:00 p.m. The event will feature scrimmages for both the men's and women's teams in addition to dunk and three-point contests. Admission and parking is free, and the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Hilltopper Hysteria t-shirt courtesy of Coca-Cola and WKU Athletics.
WKU will open its season with an exhibition game as the Lady Toppers host Ouachita Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 3. The regular season opener for the squad will come just over two weeks later as WKU travels to Muncie, Ind., to face Ball State on Nov. 19 at 6:00 p.m.
