- Captains for WKU were Tyler Higbee, Nick Holt, Forrest Lamp and Wonderful Terry. MT won the toss and deferred. Attendance for the game was 16,993.
- WKU improves to 5-1, while Middle Tennessee falls to 2-4. Middle Tennessee leads the series 34-30-1.
- WKU is 3-0 in conference play for the first time in the FBS era and first since 2005 when WKU began Gateway play 4-1.
- The 5-1 start to the season is the best since also starting 2012 5-1.
- The win was the first home win over Middle Tennessee since 1989 and first overall since 2011.
- The victory was also the seven-straight at home, the most since 10 between 2003 and 2005. WKU is 8-1 under Jeff Brohm at home.

Player Notes
- With his 359 passing yards, senior quarterback Brandon Doughty became the 91st quarterback in FBS history to eclipse the 10,000-yard mark for his career as he now has 10,159 yards.

- Doughty has thrown a touchdown pass in 20 straight games, which ties TCU's Trevone Boykin with longest active streak in FBS. Boykin plays later today at 6:30 p.m. CT.
- Doughty's streak of 400-yard passing games was snapped of four, the fourth-longest streak in FBS history.
- Doughty just missed throwing for at least 350 yards by halftime for the fifth time in his career as he finished the first half with 333 yards and five touchdowns. He has tossed 13 touchdowns before halftime in last three games combined.
- Doughty now has 20 passing touchdowns on the season, which is the third-most in school history in a single season. Doughty is the only quarterback to be in the Top 10 in the category in three separate seasons.
- Entering game with second-most yards in FBS this season, Doughty pushed his season total to 2,359, which is good sixth-best in a single season in WKU history.
- Doughty threw his first interception at home since Oct. 15, 2013, a span of 394 passing attempts.
- Garrett Schwettman has split the uprights on 80 consecutive PATs, the second-longest streak in WKU history. He is the only kicker to post two streaks of 50+ as he held a run of 59 straight from 10/11/12-11/2/13.
- Taywan Taylor, who entered the game as the leading receiver in C-USA, finished the game with 120 yards on six catches and added three touchdowns. For the year, Taylor leads WKU with 691 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Prince Charles Iworah got his third interception of the year with his pick in the first quarter.
- Nicholas Norris recorded the second 100-yard receiving game of his career and first of season as he tallied 148 yards and added a touchdown.
- Returner Kylen Towner moved into sixth in WKU history in career kick-return yards with 972. He also moved into a tie for 10th in career kick returns with 39.
- Tyler Higbee caught his sixth touchdown of the season as he has scored a touchdown in five of six games and four straight.
