WKU defensive end Kalvin Robinson previews Bowling Green offense
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Following a challenging spring, a summer full of workouts, the grind of fall camp and a handful of game-week practices, WKU Football is ready for its 2014 season opener versus Bowling Green Friday at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
The Hilltoppers concluded their preparation for the Falcons Wednesday afternoon, going through a two-hour session focused on game-plan execution. WKU will continue to go over game plans and conduct a game walk-through on Thursday.
Friday's game will mark the head coaching debut for WKU's Jeff Brohm and he told the local media that he is confident entering the season.
"I think we are ready to go," said Brohm. "We've worked extremely hard. Now it's time to go out there and test yourself and have fun. Our guys are ready."
Brohm and the Tops will face another coach entering his first season with the program in Bowling Green's Dino Babers. Babers is known for his fast-paced, high scoring offense and it will be up to Nick Holt's defense to slow the Falcons down.
"It's time to play football," said Holt, who begins his second season as WKU's defensive coordinator. "We better be ready. They are an up-tempo offense. It's going to be a factor - we have to keep guys fresh."
Friday's game will serve as the `Live United' White Out game, with the first 6,000 fans to enter the stadium receiving a free `Live United' t-shirt. Season and single-game tickets are still available, and fans can get on the #BrohmSquad by calling the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5 BIGRED, shopping online at the top of the page under `Tickets' or by visit the ticket office inside E.A. Diddle Arena.
Tailgating for game day is set to begin at 4 p.m. and WKU Athletics will provide over 4,500 free, paved parking spaces through campus for fans all season long, including 500 covered parking spaces in Parking Structure 1, located next to Diddle Arena.
