BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU Baseball signee and recent Henderson County High School graduate Kaleb Duckworth continues to collect postseason accolades following a stellar senior season as he was named Kentucky's Co-Mr. Baseball for 2014 by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association on Monday.
Duckworth, who was also named Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year on May 27, becomes the first Hilltopper to earn Kentucky Mr. Baseball honors since the award began in 1989. He and Tates Creek's Devin Hairston are also the first co-winners of the award in its history.
Kentucky's All-State teams were also released on Monday and Duckworth landed on the First Team for the second-straight season.
Duckworth finished his senior season with a .447 batting average, 40 runs scored, 38 stolen bases and 35 RBI. He spent the majority of his time at third base with Henderson County in 2014 but has the ability to play in the outfield as well.
Duckworth signed with WKU after a great junior season at Henderson County in which he led the state in home runs (11) and stolen bases (36). He hit .456, drove in 32 RBI and had an on-base percentage of .588 from his lead off position with the Colonels last spring, earning First-Team All-State, All-Region and All-District honors in the process.
Duckworth led Henderson County to back-to-back state semifinal appearances in 2012-13, was named to the All-Kentucky Team by USA Today in 2013 and is rated as a Top 10 player in the state of Kentucky by Prep Baseball Report.
