BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- A total of 76 WKU student-athletes will earn their diplomas this weekend as a part of commencement ceremonies on The Hill. The average cumulative grade point average of the 76 student-athletes is 3.17.
The degrees obtained this weekend include economics, international business, accounting, finance, elementary education, mathematics, psychology and advertising. Seven student-athletes will be graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
A total of 110 WKU student-athletes have earned their degrees in the last calendar year, with 34 others graduating in December 2013. The cumulative GPA of all 379 WKU student-athletes is 3.05, and 200 student-athletes, 53 percent, are maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Twelve of WKU's 15 sport programs hold a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better, and four are at or above 3.4 as a team.
WKU has had more student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt Conference for academic achievement than any other conference school for nine-consecutive years.
In the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) release earlier this week, each of WKU's 19 teams exceeded the mandated 930 APR score by at least 16 points.
