MTSU Christmas Invitational Results
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - WKU freshmen Carrol Hardy and Nathan Robitaille sparked the men's and women's track and field teams at the Middle Tennessee Christmas Invitational Saturday at the Murphy Center as the duo registered two of WKU's combined four victories on the afternoon.
Hardy sprinted her way to victory in her first collegiate meet, running away with the 55-meter dash at 7.05 seconds. Hardy's time was .15 seconds faster than her next closest competitor and was one one-hundreth of a second off cracking WKU's Top 5 all-time 55-meter dash performances.
Robitaille also won in his debut for the Hilltoppers, taking home top honors in the shot put with a heave of 46-feet-7 inches (14.20m).
Junior thrower Eric Marr registered his first career victory in the weight throw, besting the field with a mark of 45-feet-10 inches (13.98m). Freshman Dakota Westmoreland was solid in his Hilltopper debut, finishing runner-up in both the shot put and weight throw events.
Senior Sherria Hester won her first career race for the Lady Toppers with a 58.25 clocking in the 400-meter run. Fellow senior Satrina Oliveira got her indoor campaign off to a good start with a runner-up showing in the weight throw, tallying a mark of 56-feet-11 inches (17.35m). Oliveira's throw was the second furthest of her career.
Both teams will not compete until after the holiday season and will pick competition back up on Jan. 10, 2014 in Birmingham, Ala. at the UAB Blazer Invitational. For more information on WKU Track and Field, visit WKUSports.com.
