BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A total of 34 current or former WKU student-athletes will graduate this weekend in commencement ceremonies on the Hill. The 34 student-athletes represent 14 sports, and the average cumulative grade point average of the group is 3.07.
The degrees obtained by the student-athletes this weekend include mechanical engineering, chemistry, mathematics, marketing, sociology, health care administration, history, physical education and sport management, among many others. Six of the 34 are obtaining master's degrees.
A total of 108 WKU student-athletes have graduated in the past calendar year, with 74 earning their degrees in May 2013.
The cumulative GPA of all 379 WKU student-athletes is 3.05, and 200 student-athletes, 53 percent, are maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Twelve of WKU’s 15 sport programs hold a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better, and four are at or above 3.4 as a team.
WKU has had more student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt Conference for academic achievement than any other conference school for nine-consecutive years.
