Des Moines, Iowa - After placing seventh a year ago, Western Kentucky University's Ignacio "Nacho" Guerra placed fourth in the finals of the men's javelin Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Through two rounds of today's preliminaries, Guerra was on the bubble to advance to the finals with a position in the top-nine. On his third-round throw, however, Guerra jumped into fourth place with a mark of 245-6 and held that position through the finals.
In two years on the Hill, Guerra has set both the WKU and Chilean national records in the javelin. He has also won two Sun Belt Conference titles and will earn his second all-America accolade when announcements are made by USTFCCCA next week.
Joseph Chebet will be the final competitor for WKU at the championship. He will run the 5,000 meters Friday at 7:10pm (CT).
