BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University senior Ivan Hartle has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as announced this week by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Hartle earned recognition on the first team.
Hartle will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-American honors which will be selected later this month. This selection is the first all-district award of his career.
The all-district awards are given annually to student-athletes who achieve high levels of success in both the classroom and on the playing field. Honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work and participated in 50 percent of the team's games at the time of the nomination.
The North Vancouver, B.C., native has missed the last 12 games of the season with a broken bone in his left hand. Prior to that, Hartle was hitting .274 with 31 hits, eight doubles and 13 RBIs. His .447 on-base percentage ranks among the top 10 in the league. The exercise science major is third on the team with 10 multi-hit games while adding three multi-RBI games.
Hartle is one of three players from the Sun Belt Conference to appear on the first teams.
