BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Since coming on the Hill in 2009, Brett Austin has had a positive impact on the WKU running programs. As a freshman, Austin competed in both the 800 m ( 2:01.87) & 1 mile run (4:35.93) at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, as well as the 800 m (1:58.62) in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship. As a sophomore Austin ran a career best 27:26 at the 2010 Greater Louisville Classic and helped the WKU Cross Country team to a fourth place finish at the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country meet. Austin looks to continue to build on his freshman success and improve on his times to contribute in helping the Toppers defend both their indoor and outdoor conference championships in 2011.
Over the next month, WKUSports.com will be showcasing different members of the men's and women's track & field teams as they continue to compete during their indoor season. Both the men and women are looking to repeat as Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Champions February 27-28 in Jonesboro, Arkansas on the campus of Arkansas State University.
