BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — After already being named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, Matt Ridings has picked up a Louisville Slugger All-American honor for his senior season of 2010.
Ridings was named to the Louisville Slugger All-American Third Team following a season in which he went 9-1 with a 3.01 ERA to lead the Hilltopper pitching staff. He struck out 90 in 92.2 innings pitched and held opponents to a miniscule .218 batting average.
The Franklin, Tenn., native also cemented his status as one of the finest pitchers in WKU baseball history after setting the school's career strikeouts and wins records in 2010, and he finished his career with 354 strikeouts and 34 wins. The 34 wins are tied for the most in Sun Belt Conference history, and the 354 strikeouts rank third all-time in the conference.
Ridings is the only Sun Belt Conference hurler to be voted to any of Louisville Slugger's three All-American teams.
This is Ridings' second career postseason All-American honor, as he was named an All-American by Ping! Baseball after the 2007 season. He was named a preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger in 2009.
