Matt Ridings, Jr., Franklin, Tenn.
The ace of the Hilltopper staff, Matt Ridings posted a 10-3 record in 2008. The junior recorded a 3.88 ERA in 97.1 innings of work. The right-handed pitcher started 15 of the 16 games he played in and collected one save. Ridings held opponents to a .264 batting average while striking out 98.
1. What is your favorite activity outside baseball?
I enjoy playing basketball with my friends and just hanging out together.
2. What is your favorite food?
I'm a steak and mashed potatoes kind of guy.
3. What books have you read lately?
Reading the Bible is a continual pastime, and I am reading Beyond Belief by Josh Hamilton.
4. What is your favorite spring break destination?
I went to Miami in high school to play baseball games.
5. What was your favorite cartoon character when you were a child? Do you have one now?
As a youngster, I liked Garfield and still do.
6. What is your favorite TV show?
I try to catch every episode of Home Improvement.
7. If you could have dinner with any person in history, who would it be and why?
I have been learning about Jesus all my life, and to have dinner with Him would be awesome!
8. Have you traveled anywhere outside the U.S.?
I have not yet had the opportunity to travel outside the United States.
9. What are your plans after your playing days are over here at WKU?
Hopefully, I would love to play professional baseball.
10. What is your proudest moment in sports?
Winning the Sun Belt championship was a very proud moment for me and our entire team.
11. Who is your all-time favorite sports personality?
I 'm a fan of Kenny Mayne.
12. What team do you currently root for?
I've been an Atlanta Braves fan a long time.
13. Who is your favorite singer or music group?
I like listening to Brad Paisley.
14. What is the best movie you have ever seen?
I believe the best movies I have ever seen are Major League I and II.
15. Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
My dad because he taught me everything I know.
