BOWLING GREEN, Ky. After two complete innings of play, the Western Kentucky University baseball game with Toledo was suspended due to inclement weather at Nick Denes Field.
The delay started at 1:40 p.m. and was suspended until tomorrow.
The Hilltoppers got on the board first in the second inning when Chad Cregar scored on a fielder's choice from the bat of Jared Andreoli to jump out to a 1-0 lead early in the bottom-half. Cregar started off the inning with a walk and Wade Gaynor added a single to advance Cregar to second. Matt Rice moved the runners over on a single up the middle.
WKU added a second run in the inning off a passed ball by Toledo's catcher to put the Hilltoppers up 2-0 after two innings of work.
Toledo got on the score board in the top of the third when Chris Dudics scored off a wild pitch thrown by Matt Hightower. Dudics reached base thanks to a throwing error by Gaynor from third base. Tim Kroftcheck used a bunt single to move Dudics to second. Josh Colliver was hit by a Hightower pitch to advance all Rocket runners.
The game was called with Toledo leaving a man on second and third.
The two teams will resume action tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Nick. The teams will play two games tomorrow afternoon.
