The Hilltoppers improved their record to 5-9 on the season as Wofford dropped to 8-10.
WKU went to the plate 13 times in the sixth inning, hitting three home runs. Jordan Newton and Marcus Ross hit back-to-back bombs to plate the first four runs of the inning. Antone Towns then hit a two-run homer later in the inning over deep center field. Tim Grogan doubled in the latter part of the inning to clear the bases, with Grogan and Newton each scoring three RBI in the inning.
Western jumped on the scoreboard early in the first as Towns doubled to right field to score two runs and Hamilton singled to score another Hilltopper run to push the lead to 4-0 after one-half inning.
Towns hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Toppers a 9-0 lead, scoring Hamilton and Newton.
The six home runs for the Toppers were two each for Newton and Towns, then Hamilton and Ross each hit one homer apiece.
Kenny Griffin (1-2) threw for 5.0 innings, giving up three hits on two runs and striking out five. Newton, Towns and Hamilton were a combined 11-for-11 on the day with Towns driving in seven runs.
Austin Redwine (4-2) picked up the loss for the Terriers, pitching 5.0 innings, giving up 10 hits on five earned runs.
Both teams will wrap up the series Sunday at noon (CST) as Hilltopper head coach Joel Murrie will go for win No. 800 in his career.
