Kyle Longo (St. Louis, Mo.) helped Western (4-0-0) to a 1-0 halftime lead when he scored off a corner kick from Brandon Bailey (Coppell, Texas) in the 23rd minute of the first half. In the second half, Bailey picked up another assist when he set up Ron Plute's (Coppell, Texas) first goal of the season in the 57th minute that gave Western a 2-0 advantage. Justin Goodman (Russelville, Ark.) pushed the lead to 3-0 when he scored off a pass by Ben Buerger (Louisville, Ky.) in the 65th minute. Jason Dugas (Southlake, Texas) closed out the scoring with a goal off a long punt by goalie Daryl Sattler (Cordova, Tenn.) in the 84th minute
For the game, Western outshot Radford (2-1) 10-7, including 5-4 in shots on goal. Satler (4-0-0) recorded four saves on the day and picked up his fourth consecutive victory in goal for the Hilltoppers. Satler was also named the tournament's defensive MVP. Buerger was chosen as the offensive MVP and earned a berth on the All-Tournament Team along with Richard Mupfudze, Plute, and Satler.
Western continues its regular season Friday when it travels to Birmingham, Ala. to take on Alabama-Birmingham in the first game of the Birmingham Southern Fall Classic. Game time is set for 5 p.m. (CDT).
